Funeral Service for Thomas Alan Howard, age 81 of Cullman, will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home with Todd Henderson officiating; burial at Cullman City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home.
Thomas Alan Howard, age 81, of Cullman, AL, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday October 5, 2025, after a courageous journey with Alzheimer’s disease.
Born on October 14, 1943, in Cullman, AL he was the beloved husband of Gwenda Lowery Howard for 48 years, a devoted father and friend to many. Tommy was known for his giving nature, strong work ethic and his love for fishing and hunting. He was a proud Eagle Scout and enjoyed his time spent in the National Guard as a helicopter mechanic.
He spent his career as a petroleum marketer. Tommy was active in civic and professional affairs, serving as president of the Alabama Oilman’s Association. Regional Director and Board of Directors for the Petroleum Marketers Association of America. He also was Co-Founder and Vice Chairman of Alacomp, and he was a founding partner of Business Insurance Group. Beyond his professional life, he gave generously of his time to his community serving in various roles with the Rotary Club, Airport Board, Chamber of Commerce and many other community organizations throughout his life.
Tommy is survived by his sons, Chad (Stacy) Howard & Alan Howard, his grandchildren, Gage, Cooper & Piper Howard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gwenda Howard, sister, Rachel Trinchitella and parents, Bonnie & Conrad Howard.
