CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in connection with the shots-fired incident reported on Thursday, Sept. 17, on County Road 1101. James Clarence Sloan, 63, of Vinemont, was taken into custody and remains at the Cullman County Detention Center.
The CCSO said deputies responded to reports that a person discharged a firearm in the direction of Cullman County Road Department employees as they were performing maintenance work. Upon arrival, deputies allegedly observed Sloan attempting to flee the scene in a vehicle. He was quickly stopped and detained. Sloan was also allegedly found to be in possession of marijuana.
Sloan has been charged with reckless endangerment, menacing, second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest and attempting to elude law enforcement.
The CCSO said it would like to thank deputies for their swift response and dedication to ensuring public safety.
No injuries were reported.
