
ADDISON, Ala. – The seventh ranked Addison Bulldogs hosted region foe Cherokee at lovely A.G. Hicks Stadium Friday night, and it was a massacre. Addison could have named its score in this one as they shut out the Indians 66-0. Addison played a lot of young players with the clock running in the second half.
The first quarter opened up with Addison kicking off to the over matched Indians and on the games second play Addison’s Joey Wilson recovered a Cherokee fumble giving the Bulldogs the ball at the Cherokee 16-yard line. Two plays later, Bulldog QB Elijah Roberts went around end, untouched for the five-yard scoring run. The extra point was no good and Addison led 6-0 with 10:56 left in the first quarter.
Addison’s defense forced a Cherokee punt, which was an adventure in itself for the remainder of the game. The ball traveled 5 yards, and Addison took over at the Indian 19-yard line. Two plays later, Roberts hit Addison tight end Michael Lee for a 24-yard touchdown catch and run. The extra point was again missed and with plenty of time left in the first, Addison led 12-0.
Another Indian punt gave the Dawgs the ball at the own forty-nine-yard line. This time it took three plays for Addison’s Roberts to go the final 17 yards for the touchdown. Connor Lane came on to try his hand or foot rather, with the extra points and he kicked it through for Addison to lead 19-0.
The next Indian possession ended with another punt but this time, an unknown Bulldog blocked the ball and it went right into the hands of Addison’s Trennon Burns who caught it and ran 20 yards for the touchdown. The Lane extra point was good and still with 4:10 to go in the first Addison led 26-0.
After a Cherokee bobbled punt snap, Addison’s Brye Dollar tackled the punter at the Indian 7-yard-line to give Addison great starting field position. QB Scout Flynn ran it in from 7 yards out and with the Lane extra point, Addison was up 33-0 with 2:23 to go in the first quarter.
Cherokee punted again and Addison took over at the Indian 44-yard line. On the first play, Roberts hit Burns for 44 yards and a touchdown. The extra point was no good and with only 38 seconds left in the first quarter, Addison led 39-0.
Another punt led to Addison taking the ball at the Indian 41-yard line. After a Zane Smith 25-yard run and a Wilson 9-yard run, Smith cashed it in for the final 7 yards for the touchdown. Lane kicked the extra point and with 10:30 to go in the second quarter, Addison led 46-0.
Cherokee actually got their first first down of the night but couldn’t move it and punted again. Addison took over at their own 31. It only took the Dawgs three plays to go 69 yards as Smith zigged and zagged his way 53 yards for his second touchdown of the night. Lane’s extra point was good, Addison led 53-0 with 5:51 left in the first half. This is how the half would end.
The second half started with a running clock and Connor Lane returning the second half kickoff 60 yards for the touchdown. Lane also kicked the extra point and with 11:43 left in the third quarter, Addison stretched their lead to 60-0.
After an Addison defensive stop, the youngins’ went 41 yards in six plays for the touchdown. Bridges went in from a yard out. The extra point was missed and Addison lead 66-0 with 5:16 in the third.
Cherokee had their only scoring threat as Isaac McMahan returned the Dawg kickoff 35 yards to the Bulldog 42-yard line. The Pups gave up seven yards and then Noah Brenton got a big sack to put the Indians behind the chains. The Pups held on fourth down and Addison took over at their own 42. The game had no more scoring as Addison drove down to the Indian ten-yard-line but tried a field goal on second down. It was no good.
The game ended with Addison winning 66-0 and moving to 4-0 (2-0 region). Addison has a huge game next Friday night as they travel to No.4 Hackleburg 3-0 (2-0 region) in a battle for region supremacy.

Addison’s Roberts had 3 completions in 4 attempts for 104 yards and 2 touchdowns. Flynn had 2 completions in 5 attempts for 21 yards. Zeke Wiggins had 1 completion in 1 attempt for 7 yards.
Addison had Smith with 5 carries for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns. Bridges had 4 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown. Flynn had 3 carries for 29 yards and a touchdown. Roberts had 2 carries for 22 yards and 2 touchdowns. Wilson had 4 carries for 14 yards. Cash Turner had 5 carries for 16 yards. Wiggins had 1 carry for 8 yards.
Addison had Lee with 1 catch for 24 yards and a touchdown. Burns had 1 catch for 44 yards and a touchdown. Silas Frazier had 2 catches for 24 yards. Bryn Lake had 1 catch for 13 yards. Knox Snoddy had 1 catch for 7 yards.
Addison’s suffocating defense was led by Noah Brenton, Noah Cleghorn, Tanner Morgan and Bridges with 4 tackles each. Joey Wilson had 3 tackles. Lee, Brye Dollar, Carson McCaleb, Bryn Lake, Tanner Gaither and Avyus Stewart had two each.
Addison’s Wilson and Bridges recovered fumbles. Brenton had 2 sacks while Lee and Tucker Hayes had half a sack each. Burns returned a blocked punt for a touchdown and Lane returned a kickoff for a TD.
