CULLMAN, Ala. – Bidding has closed on another construction project at Cullman Regional Airport as the City of Cullman and Cullman County continue a multiyear expansion and improvement program at the jointly owned airport.
The latest project, identified as Cullman Regional Airport Midfield Hangar Development, was advertised under project number TBHM260015.
Bidding closed at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16.
According to the City’s bid documents, the work includes grading, drainage, base and paving work, electrical construction and the hangar building itself.
Goodwyn Mills Cawood is serving as engineer for the project.
The current solicitation follows earlier work to prepare the airport’s midfield area for additional hangar development.
In March 2025, Cullman County records described a midfield hangar site-development project that included construction of a stub taxiway to provide access to future hangar development. At that time, engineering documents placed the anticipated construction value of that site work at approximately $1 million and said federal and state grant funding was expected to cover a portion of the project.
The latest hangar construction bid does not publicly identify an intended tenant, total project cost, hangar size or funding breakdown in the material reviewed by The Tribune.
It also comes as other major construction projects move forward at the airport.
In May 2025, the Cullman City Council awarded a $2,734,670 hangar contract to Newell, Park & Eleazer Construction LLC. The Cullman County Commission subsequently approved its portion of that project.
That project followed a $1 million Appalachian Regional Commission grant accepted by the City for an aviation partnership involving Martin Aviation and Wallace State Community College.
Plans called for Martin Aviation to establish aircraft maintenance operations at the airport while Wallace State developed aviation workforce training space associated with the project.
Airport officials have also undertaken taxiway, apron and pavement improvements as part of a broader capital program.
The public documents for the new midfield hangar solicitation do not establish whether it is an additional facility, a later phase of previously approved development or construction associated with one of the airport’s existing projects.
