MOULTON, Ala. – The West Point Warriors hit the road for a big region battle at Lawrence County Friday night and they returned home with a big win. The Warriors built a 21-8 lead in the first half and tacked on three more scores in the second half to collect a comfortable, 41-8 win over the Red Devils.

West Point’s first touchdown of the night was a little unconventional as Warriors fumble was scooped up by Cooper Howard who took it into end zone for an early touchdown and a 7-0 lead. West Point quarterback Ayden Ennis ran one into the end zone of the next possession to put the Warriors in front 14-0 but later in the second quarter, Lawrence County blocked a West Point punt and ran it into the end zone for a touchdown to trim the lead to 14-8. However, the Warriors responded with a scoring drive just before halftime, capped off by a touchdown pass from Ennis to Bryant Moon that gave West Point a 21-8 lead at the break.

A touchdown run by Ollie Howell extended the lead to 28-8 early in the third quarter and Howell’s second touchdown run of the night made it 35-8 with a minute to play in the third. A Nolan Franklin interception gave West Point a short field on its next possession and Howell took advantage, punching in his third touchdown run of the game to put the Warriors ahead 41-8 with eight minutes remaining. Maddox Chapman intercepted a pass on the ensuing possession to wrap up a 41-8 region win for West Point.

The Warriors (2-2) will be off next week before hosting Hayden on Sept. 26.
