Obituary: Margaret Alberta Jetton

Margaret Alberta Jetton, 95, born in Athens Alabama & long-time resident of Clearwater, Florida, entered her eternal rest on August 3, 2025.

Margaret was born on June 9, 1930, in Athens Alabama, to Mary Elizabeth Daly Buchanan & Albert Floyd Buchanan. Margaret worked as a waitress in Alabama and worked as a cook at Dunedin Elementary School, where she retired from. Her and Virgil also owned Jetton produce market.

She was an active community member in Wood Valley heading up the neighborhood watch for 35 years. She was in the police auxiliary and on the board of juvenile justice for years. She was awarded citizen of the year in 2003 and had the technology center at the Wood Valley Rec Center named in her honor. Margaret was a member of Countryside Baptist Church where she served as a greeter, attended bible studies, volunteered at events & the clothes closet and very much enjoyed the music and message each week. Upon moving to Assisted Living she became an ambassador greeting new residents and making them feel welcomed and at home.

She is survived by her son Allen (Heidi), Bo (Becky), Son in law Roy, her grandchildren; Paula, Lee (Lisa), Melissa (Keith), Connor, Ryan (Josalynn), Scott (Crystal), Brittney (Ryan), Matt and her great grand-children Laney, Brooke, Bristol, Kaiden, Parker, Ella, Grady, Hannah & Jacob. She was preceded in death by her husband Virgil, Daughter Gail, grandson in law Danny and her siblings Richard, Louise, Albert Jr, Bill, Johnny, Pauline & Harry.

A memorial service will be held Saturday August 9, 2025, at 3 p.m., Cullman Heritage Funeral Home, 255 County Road 1435, Cullman, AL 35058. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to 2 p.m. Will be followed by graveside service at Oak Level Baptist Cemetery 1272 County Road 1635 Cullman, Alabama 35058.
