James Harold Cox Jr., age 90, of Crane Hill, Alabama passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

Jim was born in Spokane, Washington. He joined the US Marine Corps at age 18 and served in the Korean War. He attended Gonzaga University and earned a Masters Degree in chemical engineering from the University of Washington. He later went to work for General Electric and became Regional Manager for GE Nuclear Energy. Jim always credited his education for his success in life and the man he became. Over the years he traveled extensively for work and retired in 1994 to Smith Lake, Alabama.

Jim is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his son, Rod Cox and wife, Gretchen Cox, of Foley, Alabama; his daughter, Jaime Coffman, of Athens, Alabama; his sister, Judy Morin, of Spokane, Washington; 3 grandchildren: Ashley Brown, Cory Coffman and Preston Cox; 3 great grandchildren; his niece, Ashley Handley and his sister in law, Nancy Handley of Vestavia, Alabama. His son, Mitch Cox of Hollister, California predeceased him in death.

Jim was an intelligent, humorous, fun loving guy. If he teased or joked with you, then you could be sure he liked you. Jim reached his 90th birthday shortly before his death, a milestone he never expected to achieve. He will be missed forever by his family and friends.

Further arrangements to be made privately by the family.
