Allen Theron McSwain, age 95, of Cullman, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. After enjoying a long life blessed with remarkably good health, Allen’s health declined following a sudden illness on March 25, 2026. Though physically and mentally strong throughout his life, he never fully recovered. His family finds comfort knowing that he is now healed and reunited with loved ones who have gone before him.
Allen was born on March 24, 1931, to Thurman and Pearlie McSwain. On November 6, 1949, he married the love of his life, Lexie Hancock McSwain, and together they shared 66 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in 2015. Their marriage was a beautiful example of faithfulness, love, and devotion.
A hardworking provider, Allen dedicated many years to his career, working at HN Donahue and Lummus-Roberts in Birmingham, and at Good Hope Contracting and Sosebee Contracting in Cullman. He believed in honest work, taking care of his family, and living with integrity. Each year, he made it a priority to take his family on vacation, creating cherished memories that will be treasured for generations.
More than anything, Allen was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and faithful Christian. He was a longtime member of Johnson Grove Church in Brushy Pond and later attended Church of Christ in Sundown. His faith guided his life, and he quietly demonstrated kindness, humility, and steadfast love to those around him.
Allen was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lexie Hancock McSwain; his parents, Thurman and Pearlie McSwain; his daughter, Donna Allred Pitt; his son, Jerry Allen McSwain; and his grandson, Randy Allred.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Judy Baker (Randy); his grandchildren, Dale Allred (Kimberly), Ronnie Allred (Holly), Keisha McSwain Hurt, and Ross Allen Baker; and fourteen great-grandchildren: Cody Allred, Shay Todd, Kyle Allred, Jaci Baker, Rhett Baker, Carson Baker, Austin Allred, Addison Allred, Payton Allred, Hannah Allred, Mason Allred, Braxton Hurt, Carson Hurt, and Lexi Hurt. He is also survived by his cherished great-great-grandchildren: Finley Allred, Noella Allred, Athena Todd, Rylie Todd, Felix Allred, Everett Allred, Aria Allred, Reese Allred, and Blair Allred.
Allen’s legacy is one of faith, hard work, unwavering love for his family, and quiet strength. He was truly blessed with a long and meaningful life, and those who knew him will forever remember his gentle spirit, dependable character, and the example he set for future generations.
The family rejoices in the promise of eternal life and the assurance that Allen is now at peace in the presence of his Savior.
