BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. – A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 7:10 p.m. Friday, July 3, claimed the life of a Blountsville teen and injured four others.
Alabama State Troopers said a 17-year-old was fatally injured when the 2020 Toyota Camry the youth was driving collided head-on with a 2018 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Amber D. Engelmann, 31, of Springville. After the initial impact, they said, the Camry caught fire. The 17-year-old was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Engelmann was injured and transported to the University of Birmingham (UAB) Hospital for treatment. Cody Hardin, 31, of Springville, a passenger in the Pathfinder, was also injured and transported to UAB Hospital for treatment.
Two additional passengers in the Pathfinder were also injured, a 5-year-old, and a 6-year-old, both were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The crash occurred on Blount County 27 near Blount County 24, approximately 6 miles south of Springville, in Blount County.
Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
