CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman Police Department will host a one-day Citizens Academy on Saturday, July 11, giving residents an inside look at local law enforcement, police operations and the criminal justice system.
The academy will be held from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Cullman Police Department. The program is designed to help participants better understand the work of officers and the decisions they face while serving the community.
According to the department, the Citizens Academy will include presentations and discussions with Cullman Police Department officers, Cullman County District Attorney Champ Crocker and Juvenile Probation Director Kay Bell.
Participants will learn about police operations, investigations and other areas of public safety.
The academy will also include interactive scenarios intended to provide a hands-on understanding of the challenges officers encounter in the field.
The department said the program is aimed at building understanding, strengthening community connections and creating more informed citizens.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
