Graveside services for Delrine Hale, 85, of Cullman will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Cullman City Cemetery. She passed away on May 30, 2026. The service will be officiated by Pastor Robert Lancaster of St. Andrew’s Methodist Church.

Delrine (LaPrairie) Hale was born in Pineville, Louisiana to Edgar and Aurelia (Fisher) LaPrairie. She was a high school cheerleader, voted “Wittiest” among her peers, and was just as comfortable raising cattle and riding horses as she was cheering on her team. She met the love of her life, Verbon Hale, when he was a serviceman stationed at the local Air Force base. He swept her off her feet and eventually brought her to his home, and they lived in Cullman ever since. Their family celebrates that they are now together again.

Delrine worked diligently and took pride in creating a wonderful home filled with the things she loved, and she wanted to share that home with those she loved. She was a skilled seamstress and was known to cut out an outfit at night, get up the next morning and sew it, and wear it to work. Her two green thumbs never rested as she spent many happy hours working in her yard, where flowers, trees, and shrubs flourished under her care.

Known as “Granny” to her grandkids, great-grandkids, and great-great-granddaughter, Delrine valued honest and hard work, education, and treating everyone with kindness and respect. She was known for her wit and wisdom, and was fiercely protective of her family. Every job she held involved serving and helping others, a reflection of her generous nature and concern for people. Her legacy lives on in the values she taught, the beauty she created, and the love she shared with those fortunate enough to know her.

She is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Verbon Hale; her son, Randy Hale; her grandchildren, Mandy Hale and Noah Bowling (Caitlin); and five brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Hale) Bowling; daughter-in -law, Deborah (Abbott) Hale; grandchildren Amber Igne (Mike), Brandi McKinney (Bob), and Nicholas Bowling (Emily); brother Delvin LaPrairie; brothers-in-law Ronald Hale (Margie) and Warren Hale; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend warm thanks to Hanceville Nursing Home and Rehabilitation, as well as to Southern Care Hospice.

She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
