CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman County Schools Superintendent Dr. Shane Barnette is recommending Preston Boyd as the next principal of Good Hope High School. Boyd currently serves as the assistant principal of Good Hope High. He will replace Jyme Jennings, who is the new secondary curriculum coordinator for the district.

Boyd holds an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Auburn University at Montgomery, a Master of Arts in Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Bachelor of Science in Social Science with secondary education licensure and certification from Athens State University.

Before joining Good Hope, Boyd served as a secondary education teacher at Vinemont High School, West Point High School and Madison County High School. He has also served on school support committees and coached basketball and football.

Barnette believes Boyd is the perfect fit to move Good Hope forward for several years to come. “Preston Boyd is going to be a great leader for the Good Hope community,” said Barnette. “He is deeply invested in the success of the school and has consistently shown a willingness to step forward, support others and do what is best for students.”

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to be the principal of Good Hope High School,” said Boyd. “Good Hope is a great community, and it has made my wife, Kellie, and our little girl, Evie, feel welcome from day one. From academics to athletics, we will continue to chase excellence.

Thank you to Dr. Barnette, Mr. (Richard) Orr and Mr. (Kerry) Neighbors for this opportunity. Go Raiders!”

The Cullman County Board of Education will vote to approve Barnette’s recommendation at its next meeting, scheduled for June 11. Boyd will officially begin as principal on July 1.
