The Critter Crew Founders Brianna Horton and Cassidy Wright (crittercrewedu.org)

CULLMAN, Ala. – The Critter Crew delivers hands-on natural science education throughout north Alabama, partnering with schools, homeschool groups and community events. Through interactive STEAM programs, the crew introduces audiences to both native and exotic wildlife, fostering curiosity and appreciation for the natural world.

The organization was founded by Cassidy Wright and Brianna Horton, whose shared admiration for natural science inspired its creation.

Wright holds a Master of Science in Biology, with academic and professional experience spanning zoology, botany, mycology, cellular biology, microscopy and ecology.

Horton channels her interests in sustainability and environmental stewardship — such as recycling — into creative, hands-on learning experiences. Her innovative approach helps transform scientific concepts into engaging and memorable activities.

The Critter Crew recently visited Cullman Christian School for hands-on learning. And on Earth Day, they partnered with the North Alabama Agriplex for an environmental education event. Children in attendance used nets to clear waterways and were able to see firsthand how litter can pollute local areas. The Critter Crew gave insight on litter leading to pollution and affecting wildlife.

The Critter Crew’s mission is to connect people to the natural world. They recently wrote in an introductory Facebook post, “We go beyond textbooks.” The Critter Crew prioritizes critical thinking and learning that inspires creativity and overall respect for science and nature.

“Whether we’re exploring habitats, discussing conservation, or introducing you to one of our wildlife ambassadors, our goal is to make science meaningful, interactive and unforgettable.”
