CULLMAN, Ala. – Local florist Floriography held a Build-Your-Own Bouquet event at Karma’s Coffee House on Saturday, May 2. Customers selected stems and created their own bouquets to take home.

Floriography Owner Anne Lawrence Hughes said she creates arrangements for important moments like weddings, elopements and other special occasions. She said she wants to share the calm and connection to nature that flowers give her.

“Flowers bring a sense of calm and peace to me, and I like to share that with others,” she said.

Floriography is located in Cullman and works with clients throughout north Alabama, including Birmingham, Huntsville and Florence. The business does not have a brick-and-mortar shop right now, but customers can connect at Facebook/floriographyalabama or www.instagram.com/floriographyalabama.

At Saturday’s pop-up event, customers made their own bouquets from a variety of flowers, including focal blooms, filler flowers and greenery. Each stem was priced separately, so visitors could choose what they liked best. After picking their flowers, bouquets were put together and wrapped on the spot.

Hughes said there are no more pop-up events planned right now, but the business is getting ready for a busy summer with several weddings coming up. She encouraged anyone planning a wedding or elopement to contact her for floral services.
