CULLMAN, Ala. – Heirlooms Fine and Performing Arts presented “A Christmas Yarn” on Friday, Dec. 19, at St. John’s Church, marking their final performance of the season.

The production was performed by the Heirlooms Players, a homeschool theater class made up primarily of first-time performers. The nine-student cast spent eight weeks preparing for the show, rehearsing weekly.

The students selected “A Christmas Yarn” after researching potential shows as part of their theater curriculum. The show, which shared similarities with “A Christmas Carol,” featured many performers already familiar with the Christmas classic through their studies, and its blend of kid-friendly humor and focus on the story of Jesus made it a favorite among the group.

The performance marked Heirlooms’ seventh show of the year, ending a busy season for the artists. Community support throughout the year has helped the program continue to grow and introduce new students to theater.

Looking to the new year, Artistic Director Paige Clabo will direct “Matilda the Musical” with Cullman Community Theatre this spring, presented through Cullman Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism. Additional summer programming includes youth theater camps featuring “Shrek Kids” and “Into the Woods Jr.”
