VINEMONT, Ala. – The Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, April 2, welcomed two new businesses to the Vinemont community. A joint ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrated the openings of The Pink Cactus Western Co. and Heavy Equipment Xchange (HEX).

The Pink Cactus, owned by Shayla Pendrey and Kayla Shelnutt, offers western-style clothing for men, women and children, along with accessories like cowhides.

Pendrey said both owners have strong ties to the area despite originally being from out of state. “We’ve made Cullman our hometown,” she said. “We love it here, and we’re so glad to be able to bring this to the community.”

The boutique operates both in-store and online, with plans for social media sales and shipping options to reach customers beyond the local area.

Alongside Pink Cactus is HEX, owned by Zach Lively and Whit Harrison, which sells and services heavy equipment. The business offers equipment such as skid steers, excavators, tractors and aerial lifts, along with repair services for customers’ machinery.

“Customers can bring equipment to us or we can go out and work on it,” said Harrison.

Lively said the business plans to expand in the coming months, including adding a rental line of newer equipment.

Both businesses share a unique location that blends retail and industrial services, something the owners said sets them apart.

“It’s one of the most unique buildings in Cullman. You can come in and shop or head outside and look at equipment,” Pendrey said.

Owners of both businesses said they are excited to grow in Cullman and serve the community.

“It’s exciting to see the support and turnout,” Harrison said. “We’re glad to be part of Cullman.”

The businesses are located at 18667 U.S. Highway 31 in Vinemont.
