Hero (Cullman County Animal Shelter)

CULLMAN, Ala. – Hero, a Lab mix estimated to be about 3 years old, is the kind of dog who makes you feel better just by being in the room. He’s The Cullman Tribune Pet of the Week.

With medium to high energy and a bright, easygoing spirit, he approaches every day with optimism and an eagerness to share it. Gentle when taking treats from your fingers, Hero treats his toys with a seriousness that hints at his sharp intelligence. He is also gifted with walking like a gentleman on his leash, turning even a simple stroll into something to look forward to.

Hero is already neutered, and his adoption fee is $35, a figure that doesn’t begin to reflect his worth. It covers vaccines, microchip, wormer and a general vet exam.

With his temperament and joyful outlook, he would thrive as a therapy partner, a loyal companion or a steady hiking buddy. Shelter staff say he shares his optimism freely with everyone he meets. They even sent along a few extra photos of Hero with his favorite toy, the ball, a snapshot of his playful side.

If Hero finds his forever home this week, the Cullman County Animal Shelter reminds the community that many of his friends are still waiting patiently for families of their own. Anyone looking to adopt, foster or simply visit is encouraged to stop by and meet the rest of the shelter’s wonderful pups. Visit the Cullman County Animal Shelter at 935 Convent Road NE. It’s open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
