VINEMONT, Ala. – The Vinemont Town Council held its regularly scheduled monthly meeting on Monday, Nov. 10, addressing several new business items, employee matters and upcoming community events.
Council members approved Resolution No. 2025-11-06, officially moving the December council meeting to Monday, Dec. 8, to accommodate scheduling needs during the holiday season.
The council also passed Resolution No. 2025-11-07, authorizing the purchase of a new administrative vehicle for the Town. The decision followed discussion, noting that the current vehicle has experienced repeated mechanical issues and is no longer reliable for Town use.
In addition, Resolution No. 2025-11-08 was approved, authorizing a one-time $1,000 pay supplement for full-time employees in appreciation of their continued service to the Town.
The council also reviewed and declined acceptance of the new RSA Actuary Report, which proposed updated upfront contribution requirements. After discussion, council members agreed the contribution amount was too high for the Town’s current budget and, as a result, full-time employees will not be added to the RSA retirement system at this time.
During council updates, members discussed the ongoing traffic congestion that occurs in Vinemont when I-65 is shut down. The council talked about reaching out to a representative to explore possible solutions, such as expanding the roadway to four lanes past Sportsworld Skate Center to the top of Hurricane Creek Park or assigning a deputy to help direct traffic and improve flow during those times.
The meeting concluded with reminders of upcoming community events:
- Community Thanksgiving Meal: Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Vinemont School lunchroom
- Christmas in the Park: Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025, from 4-6 p.m. at the Vinemont Community Center and Art Park
The next meeting of the Vinemont Town Council will take place on Monday, Dec. 8, with the work session beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the regular council meeting to follow at 6. Vinemont Town Hall is located at 36 Patton Drive.
