CULLMAN, Ala. – Pete Nassetta on Monday announced he has qualified to run for Cullman City Council Place 2.

Pete Nassetta has qualified to run for Place 2 in the Aug. 26 election for (Cullman) City Council.
Pete is a graduate of St. Bernard College. He has demonstrated his support for education as a former teacher and Key Club Advisor in the Cullman City School System. He is also a former member of the Catholic School Board of the Diocese of Birmingham. One of his most satisfying accomplishments is being a co-founder of Saint Bernard Preparatory School.
Community involvement has been an important part of his life. Pete is a past member of the Cullman Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He was awarded member of the year in the Cullman Kiwanis Club. He also held office in the Cullman Lions Club and was a member of the Cullman Rotary Club. Many years were spent in coaching youth baseball with Cullman Parks and Recreation. He is also very proud of his years as scout leader, seeing both of his sons achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.
Pete’s professional resume includes 16 years as Director of Public Works for the City of Cullman, retiring in 2009. He holds an Advanced Certificate in Public Works Management from the University of Georgia and is a former President of the Alabama Public Works Association.
Church commitment has always been a hallmark for the Nassettas. Together, Pete and his wife Sondra have participated in most aspects of their faith community. Pete was ordained a permanent deacon in 2013. He also spent 32 years as Director of the church’s 10 acre cemetery.
Pete is married to the former Sondra Ann Waters. They have two sons, David, retired Chief of Police for the City of Cullman and part-time staff member in the District Attorney’s Office, and Patrick, a pediatric dentist in Birmingham. They have five grandchildren.
Pete’s entire life has been dedicated to some type of public service. He can bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table to offer solutions for issues that currently plague our fast growing city.
