GOOD HOPE, Ala. – Larry Creel on Monday officially announced his candidacy for mayor of Good Hope.

Below is Creel’s announcement.

Larry Creel has announced his candidacy today for Mayor of Good Hope. Mr. Creel resides in Good Hope with his wife of 33 years, Janet. He has a lifetime of experience in public works and civil engineering work, including 30 years in roads, sewer, water, wastewater treatment plant construction, inspection, and maintenance. He also has 10 years of experience in civil engineering work, including design and inspection of water lines, sewer lines, sewer rehabilitation, municipal water tank rehabilitation/inspection. He has five years of experience supervising and managing over 100 employees, as well as organizing, adopting, and administering annual  budgets totaling over $6 million, which has made him an adept candidate for this position. In total, Mr. Creel has amassed over 40 years of attending to citizens’ needs and concerns.

I believe it is time for a change, one in which all citizens are heard. “My vision for Good Hope is to continue growth steadily, as budgets will allow, finish those projects that are currently incomplete, and put a much needed emphasis on maintaining what we as a community already have. I want citizens to be informed and involved. I want people to know what is going on in their government because it is just that, THEIR government; not just part of it, but all of it.”

I have been a resident of Good Hope for two years, moving from Tuscaloosa County to Cullman County three and a half years ago. I built three homes in the City of Good Hope and I am proud to be a resident here. While I was not born here, I have several familial ties to Cullman County and the City of Good Hope. My uncle, Euel Hudson, was one of the original petitioners for the incorporation of Good Hope in 1962, and was later Mayor of Good Hope when I was a child. My aunt, Euel’s wife, Lora Hudson, worked at Good Hope High School. Another uncle of mine who was from Good Hope was Herman Teem, whose Mother, Ethel Teem, was a teacher at Good Hope. I have always loved this area. In fact, I loved it so much that I brought both of my daughters, son-in-law, and two grandchildren here with me. My grandchildren are students in the Good Hope school system. I am fully invested in making Good Hope the best Cullman County has to offer.

I hope the citizens of this wonderful community will give me the opportunity to serve them in a way they deserve. Your vote is something I do not take lightly, as it is the foundation of this great nation. If you choose to vote for me, I will do everything in my power to always live up to your expectations. I am not a lifelong politician, I am one of you and I believe all people should be treated equal. I aspire to make Good Hope an excellent place to live, work, play, and go to school. Let’s put more good in Good Hope. Please go out and vote on August 26th for me, Larry Creel, as your next mayor for ALL four years!” Thank you all for your support.
