Obituary: Kenneth “Red” Griffin

Funeral service for Kenneth “Red” Griffin, 78, of the Blair Community will be at 3 p.m.,  
Tuesday, June 24th, 2025, at Bethlehem West Baptist Church, 14310 AL Hwy 157, Vinemont, AL, with interment in Blair Methodist Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the church from 12-3 p.m. Bro. Shane Wheeler and Bro. Tim Aris will officiate.

Kenneth was born in Cullman County, Alabama on January 2, 1947 to Doyal and Mary Griffin.  He passed from this life Saturday, June 21st, 2025.  Kenneth, better known as “Red” was a member of the United States Army (1966-1968).  Red began his career as an ambulance driver and a Cullman County deputy.  Not long after that, Red and Connie bought and operated a convenience store at Battleground for about 35 years.  Red also had a trucking business for a few years during this time.  Lots of good times were had and many friendships were made at Hilltop.  Red went back into law enforcement and retired as an Agriculture Investigator.  Red was a community person.  He served as a school trustee for West Point.  He loved the West Point Warriors and he loved Alabama football.  After Red retired, he spent the majority of his time working on his farm.  He loved being on his tractor and taking care of his cows.   

Red was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bobby Griffin and his sister, Betty Garrett. 

Kenneth is survived by his wife of 54 years, Connie Smith Griffin; his two daughters, Amy Griffin, Maria Wren ( husband, Scott); one son, Kenny Griffin; grandchildren, Abbey Wren (fiance, Grayson Moye), Olivia Claire Wren, Kennedy Griffin (wife, Alexis Griffin), Ana-Spencer Griffin; a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Kennedy Griffin, Mark Powell, Chad McKelvy, John McKenney, Tim Garner, Grayson Moye; honorary pallbearers will be Benton Thompson, Nathan Thompson, Billy Jones, Steve McSwain, Logan Griffith, John Bryant, Bob Holley, Jimmy Miller, Gerald McGough, Steve McBride, Ed Townsene, Michael Corley. 

The family would like to thank Aveanna Home Health and Southern Care Hospice for the excellent care given to Kenneth “Red” Griffin.
