BERLIN, Ala. – The Berlin Volunteer Fire Department is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a community cookout on Saturday, June 14, from 4-7 p.m. at the Berlin Community Center.
Berlin VFD Administrative Assistant Kasey Barfield said the department is searching for photos from the past 50 years to use in coordination with the event.
”We will serve free hot dogs and hamburgers at the Berlin Community Center during our event,” Barfield said. “The photos will be displayed along with a commemorative plaque during the Berlin VFD Community Cookout.”
Barfield said the plaque will honor the department’s founding members and chiefs since its founding in 1975, and after the event, it will be displayed at Station 1.
Photos can be submitted to the Berlin VFD’s Facebook page via Messenger or sent to BerlinFireDepartment@outlook.com.
“We are constantly looking to build our team,” Barfield said. “We need firefighters, medical personnel and auxiliary members. You can get involved by joining us for our monthly meeting. We meet at Station 1 starting at 7 p.m. on the second Monday of every month.”
Berlin VFD Station 1 is located at 3581 U.S. Highway 278 E. The Berlin Community Center is located at 3309 U.S. Highway 278 E.
