CULLMAN, Ala. – To support the Cullman County Public Library, more than 300 participants turned out for the Spooktacular Storybook 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run Saturday, Oct. 24.
Assistant Director Shelby Creekmore said she didn’t have a final total dollar amount raised (after expenses), but they did know the event raised more than $15,000.
“Some of my favorite things were seeing all the amazing costumes and the overwhelming support from families and friends,” she said. “We received great feedback from many participants and have even more plans for next year’s run!”
Creekmore explained the library is excited to kick off its Capital Campaign: “Every Chapter Matters.”
“This will support educating our community about library services and its needs, as well as fundraising for our renovation and expansion of the library building,” she said.
Director Amber Thornton said the library recently reported annual data of more than 100,000 visits and $1.5 million in patron savings in 2026.
“That’s why our plans to expand and update the library are so vital,” she said. “We want to continue to serve as a community hub meeting the ever-changing needs of Cullman. Every Chapter Matters (is) a community campaign supporting a new library designed to provide more space, expanded programming and greater access to resources.”
