Op-Ed: The Haunted Woods brings Halloween nostalgia to 2026

The Haunted Woods, a local fear-fueling attraction located in Hanceville is open to the public until Oct. 31, with some “old-school” classic scare tactics.

I visited the site on Saturday and truly enjoyed my experience!

Per my millennial heart, think 2003-2008 backwoods with a touch of “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” meets “Wrong Turn” – just my kind of haunted “house.”

The entire venue is outside, but you get your steps in as well as, truly getting to experience 2026 Halloween like a teen all over again.

Think chainsaws, slow Michael Myers walks and Halloween lighting.

Parking is limited so be prepared to be a little tight in that department.

10/10 recommend The Haunted Woods for a fun, little local haunt!

Tickets are affordable and available at the door: $10 for a regular visit and $20 for VIP.

Find it at 172 County Road 536 in Hanceville.
