BAILEYTON, Ala. – The Town of Baileyton is set to deck the halls – well, the light poles lining Alabama Highway 69, in preparation for the upcoming holiday season on Monday, Nov. 27, 2023.
Mayor Windell Calloway said plans have been put in place to ensure the safety of those hanging the lighted decor along the busy highway. “We’ll have some people out to make sure we don’t get run over in the road,” he explained, noting the high speeds that travelers tend to maintain on the main thoroughfare through Baileyton. “It’s pretty dangerous, but our sheriff’s department is good to help.”
Motorists in the Baileyton area on Nov. 27 are advised to try to avoid Alabama Highway 69 or be prepared to slow and come to a stop for the safety of those hanging the lights.
