CULLMAN, Ala. — Cullman senior cheerleader Siddalee Drake has had an amazing experience on the Bearcats cheer team so far and has learned so much from her fellow cheerleaders.

“It’s been an amazing experience and I’m so glad I get to experience it with the best team,” Drake said. “Being around the exceptional girls on my cheer team has been an unparalleled experience. Their incredible talent, dedication, and relentless drive have left an indelible mark on my journey. Their support and camaraderie have created an environment of motivation and growth. Whenever we step on the mat, their energy and passion are contagious, propelling us to push beyond our limits. In times of challenges and setbacks, their determination inspire to rise and conquer. The bond we’ve formed, as not just teammates but as a family, is truly special. I’m beyond grateful for the opportunity to be around these amazing girls. I’ve learned how to work as a team. We’ve all become so close over the years. I have some of the best friendships from cheer. They’ve showed me how to be a good teammate and to show good sportsmanship.”

Siddalee has taken away so much during her time on varsity and has seen amazing improvement throughout her time in high school.

“Being on varsity cheer has taught me so much. I’ve learned the importance of teamwork, dedication, and perseverance. I’ve experienced the thrill of performing routines in front of a crowd, and the joy of supporting my team every step of the way. Varsity cheer has given me opportunities to challenge myself, improve my physical fitness, and develop strong leadership skills. It has not only shaped me into a better cheerleader, but also a more confident and determined individual,” she said. “Throughout my time on the cheer team, I have witnessed tremendous growth and improvement in my performance. Initially, I struggled with certain stunts and tumbling skills, but through constant practice and guidance from my coaches, I’ve seen myself become stronger and more confident in executing these techniques.”

She added,

“The hours of training and dedication have paid off, as I continue to push my limits and set new goals for myself. The progress I’ve made not only benefits me as an individual, but also contributes to the success and cohesion of our team.”

Siddalee will continue to get even better and stronger during the offseason as she prepares for this upcoming cheer season. She kept her goal for this season short and sweet.

“I will continue to work on improving my technique and execution of cheerleading skills. This includes perfecting my stunts, jumps, and tumbling passes. I will also focus on building strength and flexibility to perform at my best. Additionally, I will continue to improve our new routines and choreography. Overall, my goal is to be a valuable and reliable teammate, always striving to improve and contribute to the success of our team,” she said. “We’re looking forward on putting in the hard work to win state and Nationals.”

She thinks this upcoming season will be a very special one for the Lady Bearcats.

“What will make this cheer squad special to watch is our high level of skills, precision, and teamwork. We have been training hard to perfect our stunts, jumps, and tumbling passes, and we aim to deliver flawless performances that will leave the audience in awe. Our strength and flexibility training will also allow us to execute difficult moves with ease and grace,” Drake said. “Moreover, as a team, we prioritize communication and cooperation, ensuring that every member knows their role and is able to seamlessly execute their part. Our passion and dedication to constantly improve and contribute to the success of our team will undoubtedly make us stand out from other cheer squads.”

Siddalee talked about her role models growing up and shared some of the best advice that someone ever gave her.

“In cheerleading, we have many role models who have made significant contributions to the sport. Some of the most influential figures include Gabi Butler, Morgan Simianer, and the Navarro cheer team,” she said. “The best advice I’ve ever received, it would be to stay positive, work hard, and never give up. Cheerleading can be challenging, both physically and mentally, but maintaining a positive mindset and persevering through obstacles is key. Additionally, being dedicated to constant improvement and always supporting your teammates leads to a successful and fulfilling cheerleading experience.”
