VINEMONT, Ala. – Vinemont welcomed the Winfield Pirates into Mark Smothers Stadium for senior night Friday night but unfortunately for the home crowd, it was a rough one for the Eagles, as the Pirates returned home with a 42-12 victory.

Vinemont trailed Winfield 35-0 going into the third quarter, but the Eagles never quit giving effort and continued to play hard until the final whistle.

Facing a third down later in the game, Rush Sandlin found Tucker Robinson streaking down the middle of the field for a huge 52-yard completion. The Eagles capped off the drive with a 1-yard touchdown run by Gabriel Herrera to cut the lead to 35-6.

On the final play of the game Vinemont’s Chase Blair raced around the end for an 18-yard touchdown to bring the final score to 42-14.

Vinemont finishes the regular season 7-3 and the Eagles will be off next week before getting back on the field for round one of the state playoffs Nov. 8.
