CULLMAN, Ala. – Students from Cullman Middle School and Cullman High School received a lesson on Tuesday, Feb. 7, from an atypical teacher. Robb Holladay, or “Robb Holla” as he performs, hails from Dallas, Texas, and traveled to Cullman to speak to students about the dangers associated with vaping.

“I’m going to respect you by not trying to tell you what to do,” Holladay started. “What I want is your permission. Would it be OK if I share with you important information and have a good time and do some magic? Then I’ll leave here and you make up your own mind for your own life. Would that be alright?”

Keeping students engaged with jokes, videos and magic, Holladay delivered messages including positive decision-making, marketing tactics used by tobacco and vaping companies and an education on the negative consequences of vaping.

“As educators, it is our obligation to teach our students the benefits and dangers of the decisions they are making now and may make in the future,” shared Cullman City Schools Superintendent Kyle Kallhoff. “Robb Holladay does a great job helping adolescents understand the risks they take if they choose to put nicotine and potentially toxic metals such as arsenic, chromium, nickel and lead in their lungs. If we can prevent kids from vaping or convince them to stop, then the investment in Mr. Holladay was worth every penny.”
