ACES: Pesticide training Jan. 25

CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman office of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System will host Private Pesticide Applicator Training with the exam on Wednesday, Jan. 25, From 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The cost of the training and test is $20. Upon passing the test, a $25 license fee must be submitted with the application to the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries. 

The class is specific to those who are “producing an agricultural commodity on owned, rented, or leased property or property owned by an employer. Examples of individuals who commonly have a need for a private pesticide applicator license include farmers, nursery owners, pond owners, sod farmers and forested landowners.” 

Permit qualifications include: 

  • The ability to read and understand the taught information in English as no oral tests will be offered 
  • A passing grade of at least 70% on the examination  
  • After training completion and passing the exam, an application must be submitted for the permit
