CULLMAN, Ala. – The City of Cullman Planning Commission met Tuesday evening, welcoming two new members: Michael Sullins and Blake Bright.

Chairman Mike Voss opened the meeting saying, “I would like to welcome and introduce two new members of the planning commission: Blake Bright and Michael Sullins. Thank you for being willing to join and I look forward to many good meetings with you.”

Moving on with business, the commission addressed the High Point subdivision on Ashland Drive off Golf Course Road just north of Cross Creek Golf Course. In a public hearing, no one spoke against dividing the property into smaller plats. The short form subdivision was approved, as was the subdivision’s final plat of Phase II of the property.

A public hearing was also held for the subdivision request on the property slated to be the home of the new Monograms Plus shopping center at Eighth Street Northeast and Main Avenue Northeast, previously the site of The Factory Dance Productions. Submitted by TULU Development and represented by David Haynes of St. John & Associates, the plan was approved contingent on two changes.

A public hearing for the upcoming Cotton Creek Warehouse, located at 317 Third Ave. SW, was held with no opposition. The subdivision request was approved unanimously.

Lastly, a public hearing for 604 Fifth Ave. SW, to vacate the 10-foot alley behind the property, was held, with the property represented by Becky Flack of Culpepper Real Estate. The subdivision request was approved.

The following items will be recommended to the Cullman City Council:

  • Vacate the alley at 604 Fifth Ave. SW
  • Annexation of 984 County Road 702, located off of Bolte Road Southeast, into city limits
  • Annexation of 230 County Road 482, located off of Golf Course Road, into city limits
  • Annexation of 231 County 1320, located on Friendship Lane off of Eva Road, into city limits
