CULLMAN, Ala. – Sips ‘n Strokes of Cullman is packing up their paints and canvases for an on-site class at Ave Maria Grotto on Saturday evening at 5:00 p.m. The class, for budding artists, accomplished artists and everyone in between, will be taught by Emily Bussman.
She shares, “The class will be structured like a normal in-studio class—step-by-step guided instructions to complete the painting and take home at the end of the event, but we’ll be painting inside the beautiful Grotto gardens!
“If you’ve not gotten to attend a Sips ‘n Strokes class before, yes, the canvases are sketched out and we help you every step of the way! And yes—you can bring your ‘sips’ of choice.”
The Grotto’s trail crawls along a path highlighting each of Brother Joseph Zoetl’s miniature buildings, replicas of many Biblical sites. Home of an annual community Easter morning sunrise service, the Grotto’s gardens are home to scenic foliage and colorful azaleas which are the inspiration for Saturday’s canvas.
“I’m very honored to teach in such a special place in our community! We created this new azalea painting especially for the Grotto, as the pink azaleas grow abundantly in the gardens area.”
Bussman’s class is also a benefit for beloved and popular tourist attraction with Ave Maria Grotto receiving 20 percent of the proceeds from the class’s $35 fee.
“I’m blessed and always grateful to be able to partner and build relationships with everyone in the community, but the Grotto is such a well-known foundation and it’s a great potential to be able to bring people in that have never visited before.
“To be able to serve the community and give back, even in this small capacity, is my biggest passion. Thank you, to everyone who plans to attend our first of hopefully many events,” she concluded.
