CULLMAN, Ala. – The Summer Learning Program at Cullman County Public Library has been a hit with kids and adults alike across the county; however, there is still so much fun to be had before summer runs out! In the next week as June comes to a close, The North Alabama Agriplex will host ‘Live Tales About Animal Tails” June 29 and Touch-A-Truck June 30.

This coming Saturday, June 26, Sheila Sabotka will resume teaching a Yoga class at the library, which has featured Baby Goat Yoga in the past. With many inquiring about the return of this class, the library anticipates a warm welcome back from the community.

There are also several upcoming events planned for July. On Tuesday, July 13, Josie Harrington will be reading Yarn Tails, as well as teaching Quilling the following Tuesday, July 20. Renee Welsh will be there to teach Cardmaking Tuesday July 27. All of these events will start at 10 a.m. A big focus for the month of July at the library will be Take-and-Make activities. The librarians prepackage these activities so children can enjoy them from the comfort of their own homes. The activities consist of kits that children can assemble themselves, or with the help of a parent or guardian. Some of the Take-and-Make crafts are things like Popsicle stick catapults and blackout poetry, and there will be different activities available based on the child’s age range.

Finally, on Friday, July 30, the Cullman County Public Library will be hosting a Harry Potter Birthday Parade. This event has been held twice before in previous years with an incredible turnout of between 50-125 children and parents. All are encouraged to dress up and participate in the march around the library!

“It was truly something to see last year,” said librarian Willette Harbison, “The children were so excited to see each other dressed up and talking about the books.”

Cha Cha’s Shaved Ice will also be on-site, as the children absolutely adore their presence among the library’s outreach events. Make sure to stay tuned for more of what is going on at your local libraries, and how you and your family can get involved.
