Recently, The Tribune set out to explore all of the many beautiful parks within Cullman County. We’ll visit one each week.

CULLMAN, Ala. – Stiefelmeyer Park is another of Cullman’s great neighborhood parks. This grassy 3-acre park is located at the corner of Eighth Avenue Northeast and Meadowview Drive Northeast and offers a variety of activities. Cullman Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism describes this park as “an old-world village green.”

Stiefelmeyer Park is definitely a great park for the sun lovers looking for a place to soak up some rays. The long, open property has plenty of room and includes two soccer goals and an outdoor basketball court. The park is also a great place for those interested in disc golf. There are three baskets located in the park.

The playground includes new equipment with a covered slide and play area. The ground inside the playground is covered with rubberized mulch for a cushy, clean surface, and the swing set nearby includes a handicap-accessible swing. The park and playground are wheelchair-accessible. The playground is most suitable for younger children.

Near the playground is a small covered pavilion with two picnic tables. The park is perfect for a neighborhood barbecue or a family day in the park. A grill at the pavilion is perfect for serving up the perfect summer burger or hot dog. While the park is open and sunny, the playground and pavilion do offer shade. Keep in mind, however, there are no restrooms available at Stiefelmeyer Park.

On the perimeter of the park are a few shade trees with an additional picnic table underneath the largest tree on the northern end. There are no running, walking trails or sidewalks inside Stiefelmeyer Park, but there are quiet residential streets on all sides.

The park is pet-friendly park and a great place for a puppy playdate or to let your pooch get some exercise. There’s plenty of room in the park for dogs to run and have a great time. As always, make sure to take the necessary supplies to clean up after your pet.

Stiefelmeyer Park is open from sunrise to sunset and, like at all neighborhood parks, guests are reminded to be mindful of the neighborhoods adjacent to the property. The park is maintained by Cullman Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism.
