CULLMAN, Ala. – To celebrate Alabama’s Bicentennial, the Alabama Department of Archives and History has pop-up exhibits, one of them now at the Cullman County Museum through Dec. 22, 2019. The “Alabama’s Path to Statehood Bicentennial Exhibition” features important dates and events on Alabama’s path to statehood, including March 3, 1817 when the Alabama territory was created; Jan. 19, 1818 when the Territory Legislature met in St. Stephens; Aug. 2, 1819 when the Constitution of 1819 was signed in Huntsville; Oct. 25, 1819 when the first Legislature met in Huntsville; and lastly Dec. 14, 1819 when Alabama became a state.

The exhibit is housed on the second floor of the museum. The display also features maps from when Alabama was a territory and early county lines before the counties we know today were established.

Visit the exhibit from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. while also taking the opportunity to see the rest of the museum.

The Cullman County Museum is located at 211 Second Ave. NE in Cullman.
