After all the family and friends of the patients and residents have settled for the night, things begin to get quiet and lonely. I hear a TV from another room and then I decide to see what’s on. I found a channel that had western movies, and one of the best western movies I have seen had just started. The name of the movie was, “Once upon a Time in the West.”

The movie starts out at a train station. Three ugly, mean and dirty men are in the station waiting room. They are waiting for someone who’s on the train, for their plans are to shoot him. The train stays a little while then it starts to pull out. The three ugly men see no one get off the train, so they get on their horses to leave. Then they see a man standing on the other side of the tracks. He asks if they have a horse for him. They look at the three horses and give him an ugly grin and say, “No, three are enough.” He then says to them, “You have two too many.” Then the gun fight starts and the one man kills the three but he gets a flesh wound in his shoulder.

The next scene is of a family- the father, two sons and a daughter. The youngest boy is in the house when a group of men rides up and shoots the three who are outside. The little boy runs outside to see what has happened. One of the riders calls the head man by name and says, “What shall we do with the little boy?” The head man says, “Now that you called me by name…” The head man draws his gun and shoots the little boy.

There are some more scenes like this. This gives a lot of loose ends that don’t come together until the end of the movie. This is one of the best westerns I have seen.

The next western was like the ones that we saw at the Lyric Theater for a nickel. But this one was so sorry and uninteresting that I wouldn’t have paid 2 cents to see it at the Lyric.
