CULLMAN, Ala. – Every year since 2000, the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce has organized the “Fly-In,” a trip to visit Cullman’s federal delegation in Washington, D.C. Community leaders, including representatives from city and county government, the state delegation, economic development, industry, retail and education participated in this year’s event.

On Tuesday, Nov. 19 participants visited Capitol Hill and met with Rep. Robert Aderholt, R-Alabama; Sen. Doug Jones, D-Alabama; and Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Alabama. While meeting with elected representatives and their staffs, Cullman’s community leaders thanked the elected officials for their support of and provided an update on issues and projects that have been a community focus in recent years. The group also presented an agenda of critical projects that have been identified for the coming year.

“The Washington, D.C. Fly-In allows Cullman County to showcase its accomplishments to our federal delegation, thank them for their past support and ask for their help with issues our community has identified as being critical to our continued growth and success,” said Nesha Donaldson, chairperson of the Chamber of Commerce Governmental Affairs Committee. “Our elected leaders tell us every year that our community’s ability to collectively identify and work together in addressing important issues sets us apart. The Chamber is excited to have the largest group ever participate in this year’s Fly-In. Thank you to all of the local business and community leaders who worked together to make this another successful trip.”
