CULLMAN, Ala. – The City of Cullman Planning Commission on Monday evening approved a site plan for a Chicken Salad Chick restaurant to be located on Cherokee Avenue next to Chipotle, opposite Chick-fil-A. The Auburn-based chain has more than 110 franchise locations in 12 states.

The self-description on the Chicken Salad Chick website says: “We offer delicious, scratch-made, Southern-style, craveable favorites served from the heart. We don’t believe in strangers, just friends we haven’t met yet—so come in and enjoy! You’ll find fresh, healthy fare and gracious hospitality at our chicken salad restaurant. We know everyone has a different idea of what makes the perfect chicken salad recipe, so we’ve created several options. If you’re a chicken salad lover, you’ll discover something here to satisfy your tastes. From simple to savory to fruity and nutty or even a little spicy, you can pick the chick that suits your mood. We have over a dozen varieties of chicken salads along with pimento cheese or egg salad, served by the scoop, sandwich, or bowl. You’ll also find delicious sides, soups, and desserts in addition to the scoops of chicken salad that started it all. Bringing along your little chicks? We have a great kids menu. For quick, amazing meals we even offer convenient carryout.”

The commission also returned to its consideration of plans for the Meadowbrook subdivision in southeast Cullman, approving a plan to subdivide the plot of land with a bond on the streets and drainage, which have not yet been completed. In early September, the commission denied the developer’s subdivision request amid questions about the plan itself and complaints from residents of the Fox Meadow and Carroll Acres subdivisions who live on lots adjoining the planned development.

The commission also approved site plans for:

  • Gardner Truck & Equipment – Alabama Highway 157
  • CARTS bus wash – Beech Avenue Southeast
  • Schultz car lot – Third Street Southeast (Alabama Highway 278) and Leibacher Lane Southeast
  • Traditions Bank operations center – Third Avenue Northwest and First Street Northwest

The commission also voted to recommend annexations on County Road 473 near the Deer Trace subdivision and on the northeast side of the Eva Road/County Road 1402 intersection. Both sites are to be developed as subdivisions.

The City of Cullman Planning Commission meets on the first Monday of each month, at 5:30 p.m. in the Cullman City Hall auditorium. The public is invited to attend.
