CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Board of Education (CCBOE) on Thursday evening recognized its E5 Exceptional Service Award winners for October.
The recipients were:
Stephanie Blair, Cold Springs High School Family and Consumer Sciences teacher
Blair’s recommendation letter from the Cold Springs administration read, “Ms. Blair continuously works at improving her craft to make her classes fun and interesting while teaching them the standards that are required. It is a privilege to nominate someone like her for this award, as she constantly represents our school and community with the highest of values.”
Tammy Aaron, Good Hope Schools bus driver
Aaron’s recommendation letter read, “Ms. Aaron is a champion for the students, for the children she transports to and from school each day. She is always the last bus on campus in the morning, and she has the longest route. I have witnessed her wiping faces, brushing hair and making sure the students are physically and mentally prepared for the day. She has a care basket in the front of her bus with toiletry and care items when their parents cannot provide them for them. She also has secured extra supper sacks for younger siblings at home, so that no child goes hungry.
“When they are out for several days, she always checks with me to let me know and to make sure that her students are safe. This outstanding team member epitomizes the E5 standard, ensuring all students’ basic needs are met, so that we can focus on their educational needs.”
Kim Whitman, West Point Intermediate School librarian
Whitman’s recommendation letter described her as “one of the most selfless people I have ever worked with. She has given to our school, our faculty, and our students time and time again. This summer, one of our colleagues had some medical issues and was not able to get their room decorated like they normally do. Kim volunteered her time to decorate the teacher’s classroom and bulletin boards. Kim has also helped teachers plan STEAM activities, lessons, and helped them with their graduate level work. She constantly goes above and beyond.”
