CULLMAN, Ala. – Cash Express in Hanceville delivered cakes to area first responders Wednesday, the 18th anniversary of Sept. 11. Deliveries were made to fire stations in Cullman and Hanceville, Cullman EMS, the Cullman Police Department, Hanceville Police Department and Cullman County Sheriff’s Office.

Hanceville Cash Express Store Manager Daisy Ocampo and Assistant Manager Meleah Smith made the special deliveries.

“They (first responders) work really hard. They don’t get recognized enough for what they do,” said Smith. “It’s really important that people just take a step back on days like this and be thankful that we have someone that’s willing to go in and risk their lives in situations. If we didn’t have that, this day could have been a whole lot worse for the country. So really, it’s just giving thanks to everyone.”
