HANCEVILLE, Ala. – After falling at home against West Point to kick off the season last week, the Fairview Aggies bounced back with a dominant performance on the road against the Hanceville Bulldogs. The Aggies were held to just eight points in their loss a week ago and responded by hanging 41 on the board this week.

After a scoreless first quarter, Fairview scored the first points of the game on a 1-yard touchdown run from Tyler Simmons, but the Bulldogs tied things up immediately when Brodie Malcom took the ensuing kickoff back 74 yards for a touchdown. Those were the only points Hanceville would score however as the Aggies went on to score 35 unanswered points and collect the road win.

A 5-yard touchdown pass from Parker Martin to Mason Black stretch the lead to 14-6 and a JT White interception late in the second quarter set Fairview up with another chance to score. Just a few snaps later, Martin found White over the middle for a 19-yard touchdown that put the Aggies on top 22-6 at the break.

Things started a little shaky in the second half for Fairview as the Hanceville defense forced and recovered a fumble on the first play of the third quarter but after forcing a turnover on downs, the Aggies went back to work. Fairview collected another interception midway through the third quarter, but this time Dalton Payne took the pick and ran it all the way back for six points, making it a 28-6. An 11-yard touchdown run from Tyvn Ellis made it 35-6 and put the game out of reach late in the third quarter before 2-yard touchdown run from Payne put things away in the fourth quarter.

Fairview racked up 183 yards on the ground, led by Ellis with 100 yards and a touchdown, Martin finished 12 of 18 for 112 yards and two touchdowns and the Aggies finished with 314 yards of total offense while holding Hanceville to just 71 yards of offense.

Fairview Head Coach George Redding is excited to get the win and hopes to see his team build off this game going forward this season.

“It’s always good to win you know and I felt like we had some opportunities last week and didn’t come up with but hopefully we’re still growing each and every week whether we win or lose,” Redding said. “It’s all about our own personal progress and I feel like we made more progress this week.”

The Aggies will begin region play next week when they travel to face D.A.R and Hanceville will travel to JB Pennington for a region game of its own.
