FAIRVIEW, Ala. – As part of a series of features on marching bands around the county, The Tribune visited the Fairview Aggie Band during its band camp this week to see what the county can expect this football season. Director Nathan Kilgo said this year, the band will be honoring the anniversary of one of mankind’s greatest achievements: the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. Titled “One Giant Step,” the show will feature songs from artists like Elton John and David Bowie (among others) that will take the audience on an intergalactic journey.

Kilgo was pleased with the progress the band made through the camp and how hard the students worked, saying, “Band camp’s going great this year. The weather has been amazing, best we’ve had in a few years. Students are doing really well and working really hard, and we’ve got quite a bit of our show finished.”

The Aggie Band will be performing at the Southern Hospitality Marching Festival in Hartselle and the third annual Scottsboro Marching Festival in Scottsboro later this year.
