HANCEVILLE – The deadline to sign up for the Wallace State Community College Alumni Association’s Spring Fever Tour to Pigeon Forge is quickly approaching. Jan. 31 is the deadline to sign up for the three-day trip that takes place during the annual Smoky Mountain Quiltfest and includes entry into the exhibit and a number of other events and attractions.

The motorcoach tour will transport travelers to and from each destination on the itinerary, removing the hassle of traffic and parking, plus providing plenty of storage for bringing home treasures found during shopping adventures.

The tour will depart on March 19 to travel to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., with stops at Moore’s Discount Fabric Shop in Flat Rock, Alabama, Countryside Café in Ooltewah, Tennessee and Chattanooga Quilts on the way. Countryside Café has won “Best Meat and Three” and “Best Country Cooking” in the Chattanooga Free Press’s Best of the Best competition.

The group will spend two nights at the Clarion Inn-Walden’s Landing in Pigeon Forge, which is close to numerous shopping, dining and entertainment opportunities. Travelers will enjoy one night out at the new Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Show and another at the Smoky Mountain Opry and dinner at Bullfish Grill.

The itinerary includes a visit to the Smoky Mountain Quiltfest and shopping expeditions to The Island at Pigeon Forge and Tanger Outlet Mall.

“If quilting isn’t your thing, the event is held right next door to The Island at Pigeon Forge, so it’s just a short walk over to extend your shopping adventure or enjoy a meal at any of the dining options there,” said LaDonna Allen, Alumni Association Coordinator.  “But, from what I’ve seen and heard about the Quiltfest, the display of quilts is quite extraordinary and worth the visit.”

As the group departs on March 21, they will visit the Cherry Pit Quilt Shop Sevierville before heading home, with stops planned at Sweetwater Valley Farms, Mayfield Dairy and Lodge Cast Iron Factory Store. The Cherry Pit Quilt Shop is located on the historic courthouse square in Sevierville, where the Dolly Parton statue is located.

The trip ranges in price from $369 to $595 based on occupancy and Alumni Association membership. The package includes motorcoach transportation, two night’s accommodations, admission to all attractions on the itinerary, and baggage handling, taxes and gratuities.
