CULLMAN – Drew Green of the Cullman County Museum announced the issuance of the Museum’s 2017 Christmas ornament featuring East Elementary School, which has been a city landmark since 1936.

“Once again,” said Green, “we are selling Christmas ornaments (among other gift ideas) at the Cullman County Museum.  The subject of this year’s Christmas ornament is East Elementary School, which was built under the WPA during the depression.  It replaced an older school which was located in the area of our current Cullman County Courthouse.  Many people attended school here, including my father and myself.  Also, for many years the auditorium was used for public events and meetings since it was the nicest available.

“This is the 15th year the Museum has offered these ornaments, and we have the previous years if you missed one or if you wanted to buy the whole collection.”

Ornaments are $15 each.  Visit the Cullman County Museum at 211 Second Ave. NE, across from Cullman City Hall, or call 256-739-1258.
