CULLMAN – The City of Cullman Planning Commission met Monday, May 1 in the City Hall Auditorium, hearing input on three subdivisions and approving site plans for another project.

A new subdivision, The Grove at Fischer Farms, was presented by Cliff Harris, seeking approval on its 28-lot, Phase one development. The subdivision will fall in the Cullman City School District and its homes are slated to be built by Davidson Homes. The subdivision will provide quick access to the interstate and many high-quality community features including a large lake.

With no opposition to the development and the only construction provision being the addition of two, temporary cul-de-sacs suitable for firetruck access found acceptable to Harris, the plans were approved unanimously by the commission members in attendance.

The division of one lot into two at a property on Main Avenue Southwest and Park Drive Southwest saw no representation for or against in-person and was approved. Another division of property was approved at a residence and land on Oak Drive Southeast with no changes in land use or property expected in the near future. The Oak Drive property’s owner, John Thomas, was on hand for the meeting.

Lastly, Project TENFOUR’s development plan was approved with the agreement to leave in place the 75-foot tree line which separates the property, located at Highway 222 and County Road 469, from surrounding, establishment residential areas. As reported following April’s meeting, the development, owned by the Cullman Economic Development Agency, is available for new industrial development and is easily accessible with the newly opened I-65/County Road 222 interchange.

Planning Commission members in attendance at Monday night’s meeting were Cullman Mayor Max A. Townson, Andy Page, Bobby Kelley, Wendell Copeland, Steve Cummings and Barrett Richard. Absent from the meeting were members Cherri Drake, Gene Green and Mike Voss.

The City of Cullman Planning Commission holds its regular meetings on the first Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at Cullman City Hall, 204 Second Ave. NE in Cullman. Next month’s meeting will convene on June 6 in the City Hall Auditorium. The public is always welcome to attend.
