CULLMAN – Higdon Funeral Home, located on St. Joseph Drive in Cullman, was established in 1976 by Mr. Raymond Higdon. The funeral home was a success for many years. Raymond Higdon died unexpectedly on April 27, 1981, of an apparent heart attack yet his funeral home went on without him for a while.

Eventually, it went out of business, and the old building stayed empty for a while.

In November 1996, Christ Covenant Presbyterian Church began leasing the old Higdon Funeral Home building.

Later, when the lease on the funeral home expired, the property owners decided to put it on the market.

The church purchased the property in 1998.

A few years later, the church bought the adjoining property to the north and began using the house on the property for Sunday school and the youth group.

On December 4, 2006, the church dedicated a new sanctuary, and the church has continued to grow ever since.
