BERLIN, Ala. – The Berlin Town Council at its Oct. 19 meeting discussed Halloween and town improvements.
The Berlin Farmers Market will welcome visitors for a night of trunk-or-treating on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 6-8 p.m.
Town Clerk Kierstyn Montgomery bragged about the involvement of local churches and announced that all trunk or treat bays have been filled. Participants will be given a parking chart to make the organization flow easier the night of the event.
The market is located at 50 Mt. Carmel Dr. If you have questions regarding parking, please contact Montgomery at 256-736-3138 or clerk@berlinal.gov prior to the event.
In other business, Mayor Patrick Bates advised that the contract is pending for road improvements on County Roads 1619 and 1920. As this contract is addressed more information will be provided.
The council voted on a salary adjustment for the town clerk. Bates advised that it would be just under a 5% increase. Her current salary is $63,000 a year and will increase to $66,000.
This adjustment was approved.
The Berlin Town Council will meet next on Monday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m. at Berlin Town Hall.
