Sheila Monk Foster was born in Cullman, Alabama, on October 28, 1950, to the late Roscoe and Dorothy Monk, and resided in Vinemont, Alabama. Deeply rooted in the community throughout her entire life, she was a woman whose heart belonged to her family, her faith, and the area she proudly called home.

Growing up in Cullman, Sheila carried a bright spirit and a quiet strength. From an early age, her faith was her steady anchor. She grew up attending what was then East Cullman Church of Christ, continuing a lifelong walk of faith as a faithful member of Cullman Church of Christ. Her church family was an enduring part of her life, and her faith guided the gentle warmth and kindness she shared with everyone around her. Sheila dedicated many years to the family business, Monk’s Flooring, which was founded by her parents, Roscoe and Dorothy Monk. Alongside her husband, Jerry, she also co-founded J&F Trucking, skillfully managing all the business and administrative operations of the company. Whether running the trucking business or serving customers at Monk’s Flooring, she took tremendous pride in working alongside family, carrying forward a lifelong standard of hard work and dedication until her retirement.

At the center of Sheila’s world was always her family. Alongside her husband, Jerry Daniel Foster, she built a life grounded in love, loyalty, and togetherness. She was a devoted mother to her son, Jason Lee Foster, and daughter, Michelle Lynn Prince, dedicating herself to guiding and supporting them through every season of life. Truly selfless by nature, Sheila always put the needs of others before her own, consistently ensuring that everyone around her felt supported, cared for, and loved.

Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Dorothy Monk.

Her love and memory are carried forward by her husband, Jerry Daniel Foster; her children, Jason Lee Foster (Tonya) and Michelle Lynn Prince (Frank); her brothers, Rick Monk (Joyce) and Ronnie Monk (Joanna); her cherished grandchildren, Michael Prince (Dakota), Caliee Prince, Eason Foster, Cale Foster, Savana Cooke (Delton), and Brody Sams (Natalie); and her beloved great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Issac, Emery Jean, and Naomi, along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends.

“We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” – 2 Corinthians 5:8
