Hanceville 12 – J.B. Pennington 11

The Bulldogs trailed J.B. Pennington by three runs going into the bottom of the seventh but some patient at bats helped Hanceville come back and win it 12-11.

The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but Mark Dyer tied things up with an RBI single in the third. J.B. Pennington tacked on five runs in the top of the fourth to build a 6-1 lead, but the Bulldogs chipped away at the lead in the fifth.

Three straight RBI singles from Matthew Cornelius, TJ Kubia and Tate Brown cut the lead to 6-5 going into the sixth inning. A passed ball, a sacrifice fly from Dyer and another RBI single from Cornelius gave Hanceville an 8-6 lead in the bottom of the sixth, but the Tigers scored five runs in the top of the seventh take an 11-8 lead into the final frame.

Five walks and two hit batters led to a lot of base runners for the Bulldogs and they were able to take advantage and bring enough of them home to walk off with a 12-11 win.

Cornelius finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs in the win. Brown collected three RBIs as well, and Ashton James finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Hanceville will try to move to 3-0 on the season when it travels to Curry on Thursday.
