HANCEVILLE – The Fairview Aggies’ season came to a close at 17-15 Monday morning after falling to the Wenonah Dragons 64-42. The Aggies started off strong and actually led the Dragons 15-12 after the first quarter but ran out of gas down the stretch and couldn’t maintain their intensity on both ends of the floor.

Bryson Fletcher led the way for the Aggies in his final game suited up in purple and gold with 16 points and seven rebounds in the loss and along with Luke Yarbrough, who finished with eight points, did a lot to build the Aggies’ early lead. Fairview was aggressive on the defensive end of the floor and shot 47 percent from the floor in the first half, but turnovers plagued the Aggies’ offense and led to a big second quarter for the Dragons.

The Aggies shot well in the first half, 47 percent from the field, but Wenonah was able to capitalize on 12 first-half turnovers from Fairview and put up 24 in the second quarter while holding the Aggies to just 11. The quarter-long scoring run for Wenonah put the Dragons up 36-26 at the half with the momentum shifting their direction.

The Aggies wouldn’t go away in the third quarter and traded baskets with the Dragons making it a 46-35 game at the start of the fourth. Wenonah had a couple of standouts that kept them in front of the Aggies. Cameron Tucker led the game with 22 points and his teammate Justin Minter was not far behind with 18.

Not unlike the Lady Dragons earlier Monday morning against the Lady Aggies, Wenonah was able to maintain possession for large chunks of the final quarter and bled the clock, limiting Fairview’s possessions and scoring opportunities. Nine more turnovers in the second half didn’t make things any easier for Fairview and the Dragons’ 44 percent shooting from the field helped them start to pull away mid-way through the fourth.

The loss ends the Aggies’ play-off run in the Sweet 16 and with six seniors graduating, Fairview will look to make another post-season run with some new faces next season.
