WEST POINT – West Point High School rolled out the welcome mat to members of the Cullman County Center for the Developmentally Disabled (CCCDD) Friday night, in between senior night and the varsity basketball games featuring the Warriors against the Holly Pond Broncos.

Many of the special guests took to the hardwood for a little good-spirited fun, dribbling, shooting and rebounding with players such as Drew Jones, Matt Cahoon, Dawson Foust and Bailey Smith from Holly Pond, along with Brandon Farley, Alex Hernandez, Rylan Jones and Cameron Moore of West Point.

Time was divided equally, with youngsters and women having their moment in the spotlight with the Lady Warriors and Lady Bronco players, too, shooting hoops with Miriam and Micah Oldacre, Bailee Yearwood and Olivia Ball of West Point and Ruth Horton, Taylor Tankersley, Molly Gambrill and Haley Higginbotham of Holly Pond.

West Point High School Principal Heith Yearwood warmly welcomed the CCCDD guests via the public-address system. This came after the senior players were recognized and honored on senior night, in their final appearance at Jim Boyd Gymnasium.

A large crowd witnessed the event, as it took place between two very competitive basketball games. The Lady Warriors won 69-57 and the No. 2 ranked Broncos claimed a 68-46 victory to end the regular season.
